Special Weather Statement until 03:00PM

At 227 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 12 miles northeast of Sutton, moving northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Rock Cave, Burnsville, Flatwoods, Heaters, Walkersville, Kanawha Head, Ireland, Sand Run, and Falls Mills. This includes Interstate 79 between mile markers 72 and 82, and between mile markers 84 and 89.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for northern, north central and northeastern West Virginia.
