SUSPECT: Justin Surs, 34-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
Christine Curington, 31-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division - Crimes Against Children Detail began an investigation into allegations of child abuse which occurred on November 6, 2024, in the city of Twentynine Palms.
Detectives identified Justin Surs and Christine Curington as the suspects in the investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation, the report was submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, who filed charges and issued arrest warrants for Surs and Curington for violation of PC203, Mayhem and PC273a, Felony Child Endangerment.
Curington was arrested on June 26, 2025, and booked into the Morongo Basin jail. Justin Surs was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin jail on July 7, 2025. Additional details about this investigation are not being released at this time.
