High Impact Traffic Enforcement in Newark
On Wednesday July 9, 2025, during the busy morning commute hours, the Newark Police Department was the host city for a deployment of the High-Impact Traffic Team (H.I.T.T.), a multi-agency effort focused on improving roadway safety through proactive enforcement.
This coordinated operation resulted in the issuance of 219 traffic citations, targeting dangerous driving behaviors such as speeding, red light and stop sign violations, and distracted driving, all of which significantly contribute to traffic-related collisions, injuries and fatalities.
The H.I.T.T. Operation brought together dedicated officers and professional staff from the following agencies:
• Alameda County Sheriff’s Office
• Alameda Police Department
• California Highway Patrol - Hayward & Dublin areas
• Fremont Police Department
• Hayward Police Department
• Newark Police Department
• San Leandro Police Department
• Union City Police Department
The Newark Police Department would like to extend sincere appreciation to each participating agency for their partnership and commitment to traffic safety.
Through collaborative enforcement efforts like this, we aim to reduce collisions and remind drivers that safe driving saves lives.
Let’s all do our part. Slow down, stay alert, and follow the rules of the road.
