Flood Advisory until 01:45AM Friday

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Halifax County.

* WHEN...Until 145 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1043 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen between Roanoke Rapids and Halifax so far. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area and may result in pockets of 2 to 5 inches. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Roanoke Rapids, Halifax, Scotland Neck, Littleton, Enfield, Weldon, Hobgood, South Weldon, Tillery, Rosemary, Glenview, Roanoke Rapids Lake, Medoc Mountain State Park, Airlie and Lake Gaston.

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
