On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station’s Problem Specific Policing Team, along with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Los Angeles County Probation Department, conducted a search warrant on the 12100 block of 162nd Street, Norwalk regarding a narcotics / firearms investigation.
During the search warrant, deputies recovered four rifles, eight semi-automatic pistols, one revolver, one shotgun, a large cache of live ammunition, multiple prohibited high-capacity magazines, and a quantity of methamphetamine and narcotic paraphernalia consistent with a sales operation (see attached photo).
Deputies arrested 56-year-old alleged gang member Mario Hernandez of Norwalk. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance with a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a short barrel rifle, possession of an assault rifle, possession of a silencer, and possession of an undetectable firearm. He is being held without bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Bellflower Court.
“I’m incredibly proud of the outstanding work our deputies continue to do to protect our communities,” said Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station Captain Joe Hernandez. “By removing illegal guns from our streets and out of the hands of alleged gang members, we are reducing violence, safeguarding families and sending a clear message that this kind of criminal activity has no place in our neighborhoods.”
