Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the female suspect pictured below in connection with cellphone theft
on July 7, 2025.
The victim, through Facebook Marketplace, agreed to meet the suspect on South 9th Street near Central Avenue to sell his cellphone. When they arrived at approximately 9 p.m., the victim allowed the suspect to inspect the phone, which the suspect took and fled eastbound on Central Avenue.
The suspect, captured on surveillance video, has a light-skinned complexion, wore small dreadlocks, black sweats, black and white Jordan sneakers, and a blue hoodie with “True Religion” in white letters on the back.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
