IMPD Unveils New ICAC Van to Support Investigations Into Internet Crimes Against Children
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is proud to announce the arrival of a new mobile forensic and interview van to support the mission of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. This state-of-the-art vehicle was recently delivered and is now ready for deployment.
This project has been over two years in the making, from securing funding, to designing, and ultimately building a vehicle tailored specifically to the needs of our investigators.
“This van represents a significant step forward in our ability to protect the most vulnerable members of our community, our children,” said Chief Kendale Adams. “It gives our investigators the tools they need, right at the scene, to move quickly, preserve critical evidence, and hold offenders accountable.
Van Features & Functionality:
-
Front Half: Mobile digital forensics lab for on-site triage and evidence processing
-
Back Half: Private, purpose-built interview room equipped for audio/video recording
-
Primary Use: Support ICAC operations during search warrants and investigations involving online crimes against children
This van allows investigators to conduct real-time digital forensic work while simultaneously interviewing potential suspects or witnesses in a secure, controlled environment.
"Every child deserves to grow up free from abuse and exploitation. At kNot Today, we are committed to supporting tools and initiatives that help protect children and prevent harm before it happens. We’re grateful to see this specialized forensic vehicle become a reality—because when we equip those working on the frontlines with the right resources, we take a meaningful step toward safeguarding more children across Indiana,” said Emma Marsh, kNot Today Executive Director.
Funding Partners:
