Advisory

NWS Food Watch in effect; Flooding possible in low-lying areas; Do not walk through floodwaters

The National Weather Service’s Flood Watch is in effect for Hudson County and the surrounding area until 12 a.m. A widespread 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is likely, with localized rainfall totals of up to 5 inches possible. Thunderstorms and rainfall rates of over 2 inches per hour are possible.

Hoboken’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) encourages residents to exercise caution as any intense rainfall greater than 0.8 inches per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas.

OEM will deploy barricades at flood-prone intersections, and residents are reminded to avoid these areas if possible. Please do not drive around barricades or travel through flooded intersections.

Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.

Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and are encouraged to follow the City’s social media accounts for storm updates including the Hoboken OEM X page at @HobokenOEM, the City’s X page at @CityofHoboken, and the Hoboken Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/Hoboken.

Residents, business owners, and other stakeholders are also encouraged to sign up to receive updates via the Nixle System by visiting www.hobokennj.gov/alerts.
