Investigation into a Train Robbery Leads to the Arrest of a Man in Possession of a Stolen Truck

INCIDENT: PC496D(A): Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
LOCATION: Summit Valley Road / Foley Road, Hesperia
SUSPECT(S): Christian Gutierrez, 31 years of age, Resident of Hesperia
SUMMARY: On Monday, July 14, 2025, at 12:22 a.m., deputies from the Victor Valley station responded to a call from BNSF Railway regarding a train that was struck by gunfire while traveling through Hesperia. According to BNSF, multiple individuals were seen boarding the train after the incident.
Multiple units assisted, including 40K (Sheriff’s Aviation), which quickly located a suspicious vehicle in the area. The vehicle, a silver Ford F350, was found to be stolen and occupied by four individuals. Upon further investigation, officers identified the driver as Christian Gutierrez and confirmed that he is currently on probation. Gutierrez was arrested and transported to the High Desert Detention Center.
BNSF responded to the scene to address the damage to their train, which appeared to have been unfounded. Further investigation revealed that a burglary did occur, and BNSF is handling the investigation.
