Burlington City & Burlington Township, NJ — Please be advised that River Road/New Pearl Street (County Route 656) will be closed to through traffic between Jones Street and Neck Road (C.R. 658) beginning on or about July 28, 2025, for the removal of County Bridge #C2.2 and the River Road Reconstruction Project.
The roadway closure is necessary to facilitate essential infrastructure improvements and ensure public safety during construction.
Detour Information:
A signed detour will direct traffic via Dultys Lane, U.S. Route 130, Federal Street, and Jones Street. Separate routes will be marked for local and truck traffic.
Local Access:
Residents and local traffic will be permitted to enter the closure area but will not be able to cross the bridge or travel through the full length of the closed section.
Project Timeline:
The roadway is expected to reopen to all traffic on November 21, 2025.
Advance warning signs, including variable message boards (VMS), are already in place. Additional detour signage will be installed in the coming days.
