Fairfield Police Using Speed Trailers, Increasing Enforcement in Interest of Public Safety

Perceptive motorists may have noticed the recent appearance of our little friends - speed trailers -  on Air Base Parkway from Waterman Boulevard to Travis Air Force Base.

Also known as radar trailers, these portable devices are used to both increase driver awareness of speed limits and to encourage safer driving practices.

How do they work, you ask? In a nutshell, if the device shows you your speed, you are driving entirely too fast.

While you may not think your speed matters in the grand scheme of things, between 2022 and 2024 ALONE speed was one of the highest Primary Collision Factors for Injury Collisions in the city of Fairfield, contributing to 663 collisions, 324 Injury Collisions, and two (2) fatal collisions.

The worst part? Collisions in which speed is a factor are absolutely avoidable.

In the coming weeks, you may see more Fairfield Motor Officers working speed enforcement along the Air Base Parkway corridor (and in other areas) as we continue working to curb incidents of this kind.

With that said, our request to you is simple: Please be safe. Please watch your speed.
