Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the below designated hours due to the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
 
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, July 23, 2025
 
• Elizabeth Avenue between Stengel Avenue and Pomona Avenue
• Lyons Avenue between Hunterdon Street and Elizabeth Avenue
• Porter Avenue between Elizabeth Avenue and Porter Place
.• Weequahic Avenue between Elizabeth Avenue and Bergen Street 
 
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Elizabeth Avenue and Lyons Avenue.
 
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
 
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
