DETAILS: On Friday, July 18, 2025, at approximately 1:01am, Amarillo Police officers were at the Toot N Totum at I40/Lakeside on a disturbance and trespassing call. A semi was exiting the Pilot Truck stop onto Lakeside and a Jeep Liberty struck the trailer of the semi. The driver of the Jeep was ejected from the vehicle. Officers witnessed this incident and immediately started life saving measures on the Jeep driver. When the Fire department arrived, they took over. Leonard Franco, male, age 31, died at the scene. His family has been notified. The driver of the semi was not injured. JP Jackson ordered an autopsy. The Traffic Investigation unit is investigating.
