Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection to a July 11 shooting incident following an investigation.

On July 11, at approximately 11:11 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 200 block of East 24^th Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Police located a 37-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived to the hospital in stable condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Murphy of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Murphy identified 23-year-old Elyjah Elsayed as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On July 19, members of the Uniformed Services Division located Elsayed in the 100 block of East 24^th Street, and took him into custody without incident.

Elsayed has been charged with the following offenses:

• Assault (First Degree)
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
• Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
