Community Reminder: E-Bike Safety

Our community has seen a growing number of electronic bicycles, and safety is a priority for all of us. The California Vehicle Code provides important guidelines that we should all know.

In California, e-bike riders must follow the same traffic laws as regular bicycles. Helmets are required for anyone under 18 years old, and it’s strongly recommended that adults wear helmets as well. Riders should always keep to the right side of the road, travel in the same direction as traffic, and use bike lanes when available. Additionally, passengers are only allowed if the bike has a designated seat.

Parents: Take 10 minutes to go over e-bike safety with your child:
Review the rules of the road
Set clear riding boundaries
Check that helmets, brakes, and lights are in good shape
