Police Seek Help Identifying Aggravated Assault and Robbery Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the below pictured male suspect in connection with an aggravated assault and robbery that occurred on Friday, July 4, 2025.
At approximately 12:55 a.m., Police responded to the 200 block of Elm Street on a call of an aggravated assault. Police located a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The suspect had shoved the victim to the ground before stomping on his face repeatedly, until he was rendered unconscious. At that point, the suspect rummaged through the victim’s pockets, stealing his cell phone and wallet. Bystanders chased the suspect, but he fled through the backyards of the 200 block of Lafayette Street towards Adams Street.

Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as Hispanic with a light complexion. He is between 5’6” and 5’9” tall and 180 pounds with tattoos on both arms. He was wearing a blue shirt featuring a Nike logo in the center of the chest, blue jean shorts, a white cap, and black and white Nike sneakers. He is known to frequent Independence Park, located at the intersection of Market Street and Ferguson Street.
