The Amarillo Police Department (APD) Homicide Unit has made an arrest in this murder case. John Joseph Kempf, a 23-year-old male, has been arrested and charged with murder. He has been booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

Subject: Homicide Investigation
In the early morning hours of July 19, 2025, officers from the Amarillo Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Bowie following reports of a deceased male. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 36-year-old Daniel Clay Beavers in his residence.
Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, the Homicide Unit and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit were called to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
Preliminary investigative findings suggested that Mr. Beavers may have been run over by a vehicle.
An autopsy was performed on July 21, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. The preliminary autopsy report indicates that Mr. Beavers died from blunt force trauma to the torso area.
This investigation is ongoing, and the Amarillo Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively pursuing leads. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
