The Mayor and Council are proud to congratulate lifelong Ho-Ho-Kus resident and devoted public servant Jay Ludwig on being honored as one of Congressman Gottheimer’s Hometown Heroes.
Jay’s remarkable dedication to our community spans over 50 years of active service with the Fire Department. Starting as a junior firefighter at just 17, he went on to serve two terms as Fire Chief and has been a steady presence responding to emergencies—including on September 11, 2001.
Since 1999, Jay has led the Borough’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), providing tireless leadership through major regional storms like Hurricanes Floyd, Sandy, and Nemo. His commitment to keeping all Ho-Ho-Kus residents safe is truly inspiring.
The Mayor and Council are especially proud to have nominated Jay for this award, recognizing his volunteerism, leadership, and genuine care for our community. Beyond his official roles, Jay has coached youth sports, supported Boy Scouts, and helped bring neighbors together through countless events.
