DETAILS: On July 22, 2025, at approximately 8:51PM, Officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of West Amarillo Boulevard on a Major crash involving a single vehicle. Officers discovered a red 1964 Ford Van overturned in the center median. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle had been ejected and was laying on the grass just east of the van. The Driver, Juan Manuel Duran, male, age 77, died at the scene from the injuries sustained in the crash. Officers learned the van had been traveling westbound on Amarillo Blvd when it suddenly left the roadway to the north. The driver overcorrected, causing the Van to lose control and go into the center median, where it rolled, causing Mr. Duran to be ejected. Mr. Duran was not wearing a seatbelt. Mr. Duran’s family has been notified. Potter County Justice of the Peace, Thomas Jones, was contacted and ordered an autopsy. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
