Gloucester Township Police has received several questions and complaints about door to door Solicitors recently, so here are the facts and answers:
- EACH door to door sales person MUST have their issued Gloucester Township Identification Card before soliciting in our town. They are to present it to you when asked.
- This includes (but not limited to) home improvement, pest extermination, solar/ clean energy, tree removal, yard cleanup, and ice cream sales companies. (Yes, each Mr. Softee driver has one in Gloucester Twp! )
- If a Solicitor comes to your door, ask them for their Gloucester Township Solicitor's ID Card through your doorbell camera , or if you happen to answer the door (which we don't recommend).
- If they don't have one, or claim "their supervisor has one", or make some other excuse, then please DO NOT conduct business with them.
- Call the Gloucester Township Police non emergency line at 856-228-4500 if they appear suspicious, fraudulent, or if they begin to harass you into buying their product.
