Meridian Detectives Arrest Man on Drug Charges Following Multi-Week Investigation
MERIDIAN, ID – Earlier today, July 23, 2025, Detectives from the Meridian Police Department, with assistance from the Garden City Police Department, arrested a 20-year-old male, Dakota HINTON of Meridian on multiple drug-related charges.
HINTON was taken into custody in the 4000 block of S Glenmere Way after a search warrant was executed as part of a multi-week investigation initiated by a tip from a concerned community member. He was booked into the Ada County Jail without further incident. HINTON is facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor).
Through the investigation, it is believed that Hinton had been selling illegal drugs to juveniles.
During the search, detectives seized:
• Over 600 grams of marijuana
• Over 450 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
• Over 150 THC cartridges
• Additional miscellaneous drug paraphernalia
The Meridian Police Department remains committed to thoroughly investigating and pursuing illegal drug activity in our community. These cases are taken seriously, and we rely on strong community partnerships to help keep Meridian safe.
