Hudson Place to close east of River Street starting Monday, July 28, as construction on revitalization project begins
Residents are reminded, beginning Monday, July 28, Hudson Place will be closed east of River Street, to allow for the Hoboken Connect project to revitalize Hudson Place and Warrington Plaza.
This project will fully reimagine the area around the Hoboken Terminal, with plans to turn Hudson Place east of River Street into a plaza, reopen Warrington Plaza for public use including future community programming, complete the Green Circuit between Observer Highway and Sinatra Drive, enhance bicycle and pedestrian access and safety, and implement infrastructure improvements to eliminate frequent ponding and flooding.
Beginning on or about July 28, the developer’s contractor, Persistent Construction, will begin utility and hardscape upgrades. To facilitate the work, the Hudson Place roadway and south sidewalk from River Street to Warrington Plaza will be closed 24/7. Work will be performed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Temporary No Parking and detour signs will be posted as needed. Sidewalk access will be maintained to the terminal, PATH station, all businesses, and residences along Hudson Place throughout the construction period.
Hudson Place, east of River Street, is anticipated to reopen as a public plaza by February 2026. Please note that this schedule is tentative and subject to change due to weather or unforeseen conditions.
The rehabilitation of Hudson Place and Warrington Plaza is part of the larger, ongoing, Hoboken Connect redevelopment initiative, a public-private partnership with NJ TRANSIT and LCOR designed to reimagine southeastern Hoboken. In addition to the Hudson Place and Warrington Plaza upgrades, Hoboken Connect includes a rehabilitated Hoboken Ferry Terminal with indoor retail and event space, a new NJ TRANSIT Bus Terminal, a mixed-use building with designated affordable housing and retail space already under construction, a new 21-story office building, and more.
