Overdose Response Team Investigates Death; Yucca Valley Man Found to have Supplied Deadly Drugs Arrested for Murder

SUSPECT(S): Tyler Lee Davis, Age 31, Resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): David Tarbell, Age 63, Resident of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY: On Sunday, May 18, 2025, at approximately 4:03 p.m., the Morongo Basin Station deputies assigned to Yucca Valley responded to a medical aid call for service in the 57090 block of Twentynine Palms Outer Highway, Yucca Valley. While at the scene, deputies located the victim, David Tarbell, who was believed to have died from an overdose. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Overdose Response Team (ORT) was contacted and assumed the investigation.
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Division later determined the victim’s cause of death was Fentanyl and Alprazolam toxicity.
After a lengthy investigation, ORT investigators identified Tyler Lee Davis as the supplier of the narcotics that ultimately caused the victim’s death. Davis had prior convictions for narcotics sales and was wanted by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for an outstanding warrant.
On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Davis was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center. The District Attorney’s Office reviewed the deputy report and filed murder charges. Davis’ bail was set at $1,000,000.00.
