INCIDENT: Deputies Proactively Patrol OHV Trails in Lake Arrowhead to Educate Riders and Enforce OHV Laws
LOCATION: Lake Arrowhead
SUMMARY: On July 26, 2025, two deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station and two deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Transit Operations Division utilized a side-by-side Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) and two Jeeps to proactively patrol the area of 2N75 Forest Road in Lake Arrowhead. The purpose of the operation was to educate off-roaders and enforce California and OHV laws. Educational efforts focused on the safe and appropriate use of OHVs, required safety equipment, applicable laws and regulations, and designated legal riding areas. This operation was funded by the California State Parks OHV Grant Program.
During the operation, approximately 75 off-roaders were contacted. Deputies issued several citations related to helmet requirements while operating OHVs. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reminds off-road enthusiasts to stay informed about local and state laws governing the safe and legal operation of OHVs, as well as the designated OHV riding areas within San Bernardino County.
Residents of the Lake Arrowhead community are encouraged to report illegal, in-progress OHV incidents to Sheriff’s Dispatch at (909)387-8313. Non-emergent OHV concerns may also be shared via the Department’s dedicated OHV email address at [email protected].
