The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch in effect this afternoon through late tonight.
A very warm and humid airmass will be in place ahead of an approaching cold front, which will push across the region through tonight. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon into tonight, which will be capable of producing heavy rainfall.
Forecast rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches can generally be expected, with localized amounts of 5 to 7 inches or greater possible. Rainfall rates may exceed 2 inches per hour. Significant flash flooding is possible.
Please use caution while driving this afternoon and evening. Road closures are possible due to flooding.
When encountering a flooded roadway, turn around. Also, never drive around the barriers blocking a flooded road.
