Equestrian Safety

For Immediate Release
Bear Valley Police Department
25101 Bear Valley Road
(661) 821-3239

Bear Valley Springs is home to many horses, and we want to ensure our roads are safe for both drivers and equestrians.

Drivers, when approaching one of our many equestrian crossings, please check for riders. If you see one, stop and allow them to cross. Just like a pedestrian crosswalk, drivers must yield the right of way. If there isn't a crosswalk, drivers are still expected to yield to equestrians and/or pedestrians.

If a horse is walking along the side of the street, slow down and (if you can do so safely), move over to give them extra space. Even a well-trained horse can sometimes make unpredictable movements.
Riders, please take extra care to watch for vehicles when riding on or near roads. Be cautious and stay safe.

Thank you all for your support in making Bear Valley a safe community for everyone.
