Weather Alert – Potential for Flash Flooding Today ![]()
The latest forecast from our weather service indicates the potential for significant rainfall, strong winds, and the possibility of flash flooding this afternoon into tonight. A New Jersey State of Emergency is effective as of 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
Here's what to expect:
Rainfall totals between 2”–4”, with some localized areas possibly seeing 5”–7”
Storms may produce 2” of rain per hour, leading to rapid water accumulation
All storms may bring lightning, heavy downpours, and brief gusty winds
Winds from the northeast at 10–15 mph, gusts up to 25 mph
Key Timing:
-Rain and thunderstorm activity is expected to increase this afternoon
-Heaviest rain likely later today through tonight
-Conditions will begin to improve Friday
Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 0600 hrs. Friday
-Standing water and urban flooding are possible, especially in low-lying or poor drainage areas
-If total rainfall exceeds 3 inches, many roadways in town may be severely affected
