Heat Advisory until 08:00PM Friday

* WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 113. For the Heat Advisory, heat index values 108 to 112 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM EDT this evening. For the Heat Advisory, from 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* AFFECTED AREAS: COASTAL BRYAN ... INLAND CHATHAM ... COASTAL CHATHAM ... COASTAL LIBERTY ... COASTAL MCINTOSH ... BEAUFORT ... COASTAL COLLETON ... CHARLESTON ... COASTAL JASPER ... TIDAL BERKELEY

Instructions:

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay in the shade, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
