The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and Flood Watch for our area. There is the potential for scattered severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours this evening into tomorrow morning. A few of the potential thunderstorms could also have damaging wind gusts and hail. Please make sure to monitor local weather forecasts and alerts from the National Weather Service.
A watch is intended to provide enough lead time for people to have a plan in case threats increase. A watch can quickly be upgraded to a warning. If necessary, move your vehicle to higher elevation and put your emergency break on. All departments are monitoring the situation.
If you lose power, notice must be given directly to ConEdison. You may report and monitor power outages through their mobile app, online, or by phone 1-800-752-6633. If you see downed electrical wires, do not go near them. Assume all downed wires are electrified. Report any downed wires to ConEdison.
