Free Compost Giveaway
The City of Daly City is partnering with its waste hauler, Republic Services, to host free compost giveaway events. Compost will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Events will take place at the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (153 Lake Merced Boulevard) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following dates:

November 12-13, 2025
To participate in the compost giveaway, please bring a sturdy container, shovels, and gloves for this self-serve event. Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to five (5) 5-gallon buckets of compost per household. Events are weather permitting and will be canceled due to rain.

Sandbags are accessible 24/7 at two locations for residents with proof of residency:
- Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (parking lot) - 153 Lake Merced Blvd.
- Department of Public Works (Corporation Yard entrance) - 798 Niantic Ave.
Limit 10. Please take only what is needed as supplies are limited. When filling sandbags, fill them only halfway, so they are not too heavy to lift and will stack properly.

Vehicle Burglaries
There was one vehicle burglary during the past week.
- Unit block of Bellevue Avenue—a Nintendo Switch, a stroller, sunglasses, a coat, two pairs of shoes, a shopping bag with items, a makeup bag, a bag of loose change, and a work bag containing a laptop, iPad, and chargers were taken from a 2021 Toyota RAV4. Unknown how entry was made. Occurred on 07-26-25 between 6:40 a.m. and 8:25 a.m. **Online report.
Stolen Vehicles
There were three stolen vehicles during the past week. One vehicle was recovered.
- Unit block of Poncetta Drive—a theft of a 2019 Honda Accord. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on 07-20-25 and 4:10 a.m. on 07-21-25.
- Unit block of 3rd Avenue—a theft of a 2013 Toyota Prius. Occurred on 07-21-25 between 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 07-22-25.
- 4600 block of Callan Boulevard—a theft of a 2012 Subaru Legacy. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on 07-27-25 and 7:40 a.m. on 07-29-25.
Miscellaneous
- There were 126 cases taken.
- There were 13 domestic disturbance cases reported.
- There were 5 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
- There were 2 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
- There were 2 cases for public intoxication.
- There was 1 hit-and-run collision reported.
- There were 9 narcotics-related cases taken.
