Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the below designated hours due to the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
 
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, August 6, 2025
 
• Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. between W. Kinney Street and Muhammad Ali Ave.
• Spruce Street between Quitman Street and Lincoln Park
• Longworth Street between Washington Street and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
• Crawford Street between Washington Street and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
• Montgomery Street between Quitman Street and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. 
 
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Spruce Street.
 
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
 
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
