Wescott Parking Lot Retaining Wall Replacement 
Beginning Monday, August 4th at approximately 7:00 am, the City’s contractor, Birdsall Construction will be starting construction of the wall along Main Street sidewalk at the Wescott Parking Lot. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Please be advised the following tentative schedule for the Westcott Lot Retaining Wall construction project, provided by the contractor. Note, this is subject to change as the work progresses. The attachments show the temporary traffic control plan for vehicles and pedestrians during construction.
Phase 1
• Scope: eastern portion of the wall, closer to County building side of the lot; existing stairs to Main St to remain open
• Parking Lot Impact: ~7 spaces blocked off
• Main St Sidewalk Impact: will work with contractor to keep a path open as often as possible but there will be times when closure is necessary to complete the sidewalk replacement.
• Timeframe: August 4th through August 29th
o Week 1: mobilization and demolition
o Week 2: new concrete wall footing
o Week 3: new concrete wall, granite curb and concrete stairs
o Week 4: finish curb, new sidewalks, piers for signs, topsoil & seed,
handrail on new stairs
Phase 2
• Scope: western portion of the wall, closer to Tomaino building side of the lot; new stairs to Main St to be open
• Parking Lot Impact: ~7 spaces blocked off
• Main St Sidewalk Impact: will work with contractor to keep a path open as often as possible but there will be times when closure is necessary to complete the sidewalk replacement.
• Timeframe: September 1st through October 3rd
o Week 1: demolition, new concrete wall footing
o Week 2: new concrete wall, granite curb and concrete sidewalk
o Week 3: topsoil & seed, remove existing asphalt and replace sub-base of parking lot (not the entire lot, only a portion)
o Week 4: pave & stripe parking lot, install remaining handrail, signs,
garbage cans, bike rack
o Week 5: final cleanup and punch list items
Please obey temporary vehicular and pedestrian traffic control measures and avoid the area if possible.
The City will issue periodic project updates or changes via Nixle PSA as needed.
