The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from July 4th to July 7th.
July 6th
Burglary – 11780 San Pablo Ave Ste. B (West County Optometry):
At 6:21 AM, a suspect pried the business door, entered and stole property.
Possess Stolen Vehicle / Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 10680 San Pablo Ave:
At 3:13 PM, a stolen vehicle hit on Flock ALPR cameras in the city. A sergeant located the vehicle in the O’Reilly’s parking lot and the driver was arrested. To county jail.
July 7th

Drunk in Public – Norvell Street and Stockton Ave
At 10:57 am, Officers arrested a suspect for being heavily intoxicated in public.
July 9th
Shoplifting – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky’s)
At 12:51 PM, two suspects entered the store and stole consumable goods. Both suspects fled towards Plaza BART.
Shoplifting – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS)
At 2:45 PM, Officers arrested a suspect for shoplifting.
July 10th
Attempted Stolen Vehicle – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave
At 6:21 am, a suspect attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle.
July 11th
Shoplift – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 9:58 AM, a suspect stole merchandise.
Vandalism – 10572 San Pablo Ave (Cell Phone Repair):
At 8:39 hours, an officer reports an unidentified suspect smashed the business window sometime overnight.
Public Nuisance – Blake St / San Pablo Ave:
At 2:10 PM, an officer field cited a suspect for public urination on the side of Safeway.
Robbery / Assault Against Peace Officers / Resist Arrest / Possess Ghost Gun – 10770 San Pablo Ave (Stiiizzy):
At 3:54 PM, a Lieutenant witnessed a disturbance between the Stiiizy security guard and another subject that started inside the store and spilled out into the street. Officers arrived at Stiiizzy and checked in with employees, and learned the suspect had asked to see a cannabis product, then snatched the package off the counter when the employee put it down. At the same time, the suspect put down a note telling the employee to be quiet and not say anything. The suspect started toward the door, and told the security guard he would kill him if he tried to intervene.
An officer located the suspect near San Pablo Avenue and Potrero avenue. The suspect refused to stop and continued walking away from officers then turned and brandished an umbrella toward an officer before continuing to run across San Pablo Avenue. The suspect ran in to the doorway of a business, where he turned to face officers and raised an aerosol can and a lighter toward them. An officer deployed his Taser at the suspect, incapacitating him, and he was taken into custody and put in a Wrap restraint. A search of the suspect’s property incident to arrest revealed an un-serialized self-manufactured firearm. The suspect was medically cleared at the hospital then transported to the county jail.
July 12th
Petty Theft – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 8:50 PM, an officer took a report of a theft of merchandise from the business.
Warrant Arrest – 225 El Cerrito Plaza (Trader Joe’s parking lot):
At 9:21 PM, a subject was arrested on an outstanding citable warrant. The subject was transported to the Police Department where the subject was booked, cited, and released from the Police Department.
