El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from July 13th to July 19th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from July 11th to July 13th.    
 
July 13th
Vandalism / Road Rage – Fairmount Ave / Liberty St:
At 1:01 PM, officers were dispatched to a hit and run collision at Fairmount and San Pablo Ave.  An officer reports approximately 75 bicyclists blocked traffic in the intersection during a “memorial ride”.  A driver became impatient and honked his horn while creeping forward and caused damage to a bicycle.  A member of the group climbed on the vehicle, and the driver fled out of fear for his safety.  He drove directly to the El Cerrito Police Department to give a statement.

Petty Theft – 10200 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 2:18 PM, an officer took a report of a package theft over the past week.

Defraud Innkeeper – 6120 Potrero Ave (Los Moles):
At 4:22 PM, several suspects left without paying for food they ordered and consumed.

Residential Burglary – 1600 Block of Julian Dr:
At 5:33 PM, an officer took a report of a residential burglary. The victim reported a bedroom window was smashed by the suspect who fled before officers arrived on scene.

Fraud – 6500 Block of Schmidt Ln:
At 6:37 PM, an officer reports that the victim was contacted by what he believed was his bank. The victim transferred money at the request of the “bank”. The victim later learned that the request was fraudulent.

July 14th
Warrant Arrest(s) – Central Ave / Pierce St:
At 3:30 AM, officers contacted a subject at the Shell gas station. Officers learned the subject had an active warrant for their arrest. The subject was taken into custody, transported to Kaiser for medical clearance, then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for booking. During the same contact, another subject was contacted and officers learned that the newly contacted subject also had an active warrant for their arrest. The subject was taken into custody and directly transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 14th
Theft - 400 Block of Village Dr:
An officer reports an unknown suspect stole property from the victim’s unlocked vehicle.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle - 1800 Elm St:
A Community Service Officer located the victim’s vehicle that was reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department.

July 15th
Battery - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 7:29 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect slapped the hand of an employee when the suspect was asked to leave the business.

Public Intoxication - Ohlone Greenway/ Hill St:
At 5:12 PM, an officer located a subject urinating on the Ohlone Greenway while exposing themself. The officer contacted the subject and discovered the subject was intoxicated and unable to care for themself. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

July 16th
Tampering with a Vehicle - 1300 Block of Richmond St:
At 10:40 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle. The incident occurred at 5:00 AM and was captured on video.
 
Stolen Vehicle - 8600 Block of Don Carol Dr:
An officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle while the victim was on vacation.

Organized Retail Theft - 11048 San Pablo Ave (Harbor Freight):
At 10:44 AM, an officer took a report of a theft that occurred on 6/12/25.

Vandalism - Carlson Blvd/El Dorado Ave:
At 12:18 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the victim’s vehicle window with an unknown object while the victim was driving in the area.

Theft - 2500 Block of Edwards Ave:
At 3:12 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole property from the victim’s front yard.

July 17th
Grand Theft – 800 block of Kearney Street:
At 5:40 AM, an officer responded to the report that two suspects stole two catalytic converters from two separate vehicles and fled the area prior to police arrival. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 10680 San Pablo Avenue:
At 9:21 AM a Community Service Officer located a stolen vehicle reported to San Leandro PD.  The vehicle was released to the owner on scene. 

Warrant arrest / Possession of Stolen Property – 400 block of Bonnie Drive:
At 3:07 PM an officer placed a subject under arrest for an Alameda County warrant, and they were found to be in possession of stolen property.  The stolen property was returned to its owner and the subject was placed under arrest, booked at ECPD, then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

July 18th
Petty Theft – 600 block of Lexington Ave:
At 8:47 AM, an officer reports theft of license plates.

Possess Stolen Vehicle / Assault / Resist Arrest – 11821 San Pablo Ave (McDonald’s):
At 3:28 PM, a stolen vehicle hit on Flock cameras entering the city.  A lieutenant located the vehicle occupied in the McDonald’s parking lot and set up surveillance to await marked units and air support.  When a stop was attempted, the driver rammed patrol cars and a civilian vehicle in attempts to escape, but he was unsuccessful and was taken into custody.  To county jail.

July 19th
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave/ Manila Ave:
At 12:55 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for DUI. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober relative.
