El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from July 20th to July 26th 
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from July 20th to July 26th.
July 20th
Vandalism – 1400 block of Kearney St:
At noon, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered the windows of a vehicle between 5:00 PM on 7/18 and noon on 7/20. Unknown if any property loss.
Grand Theft – 11740 San Pablo Ave:
At 12:55 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole property between 11:45 PM on 7/19 and noon on 7/20.
Warrant Arrest x 2 – Central Ave / Carlson Blvd:
At 4:30 PM, during a traffic stop an officer made a warrant arrest. To county jail.
Failed to Register as Sex Registrant- 8200 Block of Terrace Dr:
At 7:45 PM, officers were dispatched to the area for a suspicious subject. Upon arrival officers contacted the subject and conducted a records check. Officers discovered the subject was convicted of a sex crime and failed to register as a sex offender as required. The subject was placed under arrest, booked at ECPD, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
July 21st
Identity Theft – 5600 block of San Diego St:
At 11:38 AM, an officer reports the victim was swindled out of funds via a Microsoft scam.
Arson - Peerless Ave/Cutting Blvd:
At 8:13 PM, an officer was flagged down in regards to a suspicious fire in the area. Witnesses directed the officer to where the suspect was located. The officer detained the suspect and placed him under arrest. During booking, the suspect was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. After booking the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Driving Under the Influence - El Cerrito Plaza:
At 12:14 AM, an officer was patrolling the El Cerrito Plaza when he noticed a vehicle driving erratically. The officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave/ Knott Ave:
At 3:55 AM, officers responded to the area for a collision. Upon arrival officers located the driver of a vehicle who had collided into a parked vehicle. During the investigation, the driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and placed under arrest. After booking at the El Cerrito Police Department, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober relative.
July 22nd
Warrant Arrest – Central Ave. and Belmont Ave.
At 1:42 PM, an Officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop for a Vehicle Code violation. The driver was arrested for an arrest warrant from Campbell. The driver was cited and released on scene.
July 23rd
Stolen Vehicle – 1200 block of King Dr.
At 6:09 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen between 07/20/25 at 10:00 PM and 07/23/25 at 5:30 AM. The vehicle was later located in the 1100 block of Contra Costa Dr.
Stolen Vehicle – El Dorado St. and Yolo Ave.
At 8:09 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen between 07/22/25 at 7:00 PM and 07/23/25 at 8:05 AM.
Identity Theft – 5900 Alameda Ave.
At 3:18 PM, the victim reports a suspect accessed their bank and credit accounts withdrawing money from several accounts.
July 24th
At 9:27 AM, the victim reports their license plates were stolen.
July 25th
Petty Theft – 7300 block of Gladys Ave:
At 12:51 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took property.
Vandalism- 3010 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 9:13 PM, a sergeant noticed a subject actively spray painting a wall of a business. The subject was arrested as they were trying to walk away. After booking at the El Cerrito Police Department, the subject was released on a citation.
July 26th
DUI / Unlicensed – San Pablo Ave / Wall Ave:
At 9:20 AM, a sergeant arrested a suspect for DUI during a traffic stop. Cited and released to a sober family member after booking.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – El Dorado Ave / Yolo Ave:
At 10:46 AM, an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check on an unoccupied vehicle with no plates, and learned the vehicle was taken during a carjacking in Oakland on 7/25. The vehicle was impounded.
