On August 4th, 2025 Rustin Murphy, of Marion, was riding a bicycle on Hwy 221 Business North around 2:50 am. A white in color sedan also traveling north, struck Murphy and fled the scene. Murphy was unresponsive at the scene and was transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville with unknown injuries. The white sedan was last seen traveling north turning onto Hankins Road.
No further information is available at this time and the investigation is ongoing. The Marion Police Department is seeking the public’s help with any information that may be available with regards to the unknown white vehicle and its whereabouts.
