Paving 08/05/2025 – Cleveland Road, Cherry Lane and Grover Lane

Project: Paving 08/05/25 – Cleveland Road, Cherry Lane and Grover Lane

Dear Residents,

As part of our commitment to maintain, repair, replace and improve the infrastructure within the Borough, the Mayor and Council along with the Business Administrator, scheduled the following roads for milling and paving as part of the 2025 fiscal year budget.

The schedule is as follows: (Weather permitting and times are approximate)

• August 5th 2025, 7:30 am to 12:00 pm Paving of Cleveland Road and Cherry Lane (End to End)
• August 5th 2025, 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm Paving of Grover Lane (Hatfield to West Caldwell Border)

Cleveland Road & Cherry Lane:
All vehicles must be off the street and out of driveways by 7:00 a.m. and should remain off until 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise directed by on-site police. Overnight on-street parking will be allowed on the adjacent cross streets during this road construction period. Make all necessary arrangements to park your vehicle accordingly.

Grover Lane:
Since Grover Lane has no options for alternate routes, we cannot close the street to all traffic during the paving operation. This would create a very unsafe situation for the residents of both Caldwell and West Caldwell.  The paving operation will commence in the late afternoon on the 5th. The contractor has assured me that they will pave one side and allow for limited access on the milled side in an alternating sequence under the direction of the PD. Once they begin the paving on the milled side, they will open the newly paved section for travel, again, only under the direction of the police.

Full access will be provided to the general public once the police have removed all the barricades, however, upon completion of the final paving, we ask that you limit the amount of travel for a 24-hour period, this is so your roadway has the best opportunity to fully cure.

• Please note that any inclement weather or unforeseen conditions may cause delays to this schedule. If a schedule change occurs, you will be advised by an additional notice from the contractor. After milling and paving, the last step of striping takes one day, and will be scheduled and communicated to affected residents.

• Please check the Borough website for updates.

We greatly appreciate your assistance and cooperation, and more importantly, your patience during this period of improvement for your area. We understand the amount of disruption these types of projects can have, so we will be doing our best to limit the inconvenience to you as we finish this project. The end result will be well worth it. If for any reason you have questions, special needs or medical concerns, please contact my office at 973-226-1250 or email me at [email protected]

Once again, thank you for your cooperation and patience during this project.

Yours in service,

Michael DeCarlo
