The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JULY 28, 2025:
 
6:30 AM Officers investigated multiple vehicle burglaries on Newpark Mall Road. Several locks were drilled into, and tools were reported taken.
 
10:39 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau was dispatched to a mailbox theft reported near Willow St & Central Ave.
 
11:45 AM CSO Lau investigated a commercial burglary near Mowry Ave & Cedar Blvd. Reported loss was jewelry.
 
12:34 PM Officers Taylor and S. Torres responded to a disturbance reported near Rochelle Ave & Cherry St. An 80-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for domestic battery.
 
2:15 PM Officer S. Torres investigated a mailbox burglary reported near Cherry St & Buena Vista Dr.
 
5:07 PM Officer Lor recovered a stolen vehicle near Thornton Ave & Walnut St.
 
5:25 PM Officer S. Torres responded to a disturbance reported near Cherry St & Thornton Ave. A 47-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for driving while intoxicated.
 
10:06 PM Officers conducted a security check at the Civic Center. A 26-year-old female was located with outstanding warrants and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:39 PM Officer Lara investigated a window smash vehicle burglary that occurred near Bridgepointe Dr & Spruce St. Reported loss included a spare key.
 
TUESDAY, JULY 29, 2025:
 
2:31 PM Officer Pacheco investigated a package theft reported near Cedar Blvd & Mowry School Rd.
 
7:00 PM Officer Lara responded to a disturbance reported on Mowry School Road. A 43-year-old female was cited for an outstanding warrant.
 
WEDNESDAY, JULY 30, 2025:
 
7:11 AM Officer Shaffer conducted a security check near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 40-year-old male was identified with an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
4:49 PM CSO Mora investigated a fraudulent transaction reported near Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave.
 
7:08 PM Officer Lara investigated a fraudulent transaction reported on Newpark Mall Road.
 
THURSDAY, JULY 31, 2025:
 
4:41 AM Officer Jackman investigated a grand theft reported on Newpark Mall Road which remains under investigation.  
 
4:44 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a commercial burglary that occurred near Thornton Ave & Sycamore St. Pry damage to cash registers and safes were observed.
 
10:04 AM Officer Lor investigated a residential burglary reported near Thornton Ave & Locust St.
 
11:30 AM Officer Lor recovered a stolen vehicle near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
2:24 PM Officer Shaffer conducted a pedestrian check near Thornton Ave & Sycamore St. A 22-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics and public intoxication. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
4:55 PM Officer Piquette was dispatched to a shoplifting incident reported near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. A 41-year-old male was arrested on scene and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:55 PM Officer Williams investigated a mail theft reported near Potrero Dr & Parada St.
 
7:39 PM Officer Quinonez was dispatched to a window smash vehicle burglary reported near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. Reported loss included a personal computer left in the vehicle.
 
10:51 PM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop near Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave on a vehicle without license plates. A 25-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license.
 
FRIDAY, AUGUST 1, 2025:
 
12:09 AM Officer Kim investigated an attempted vehicle theft reported on Newpark Mall Road. A shattered sunroof was observed as the point of entry.
 
8:30 AM Officer Jackman responded to a commercial burglary on Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave. A lock was cut from the front door and a safe was taken from the location.
 
2:34 PM Officer S. Torres recovered a stolen vehicle near Ash St & Thornton Ave.
 
10:16 PM Officer Swadener conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. Three subjects including a 55-year-old male, 44-year-old male, and a 52-year-old female were arrested for possession of narcotics. They were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SATURDAY, AUGUST 2, 2025:
 
8:02 AM Officer Stevenson responded to a suspicious person reported near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave. A 39-year-old male was cited for an outstanding warrant.
 
10:11 AM Officer S. Torres investigated several mailbox burglaries throughout the day.
 
7:23 PM Officer Stevenson responded to a disturbance reported near Mayhews Landing Road & Bettencourt St. A 20-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for domestic assault.
 
SUNDAY, AUGUST 3, 2025:
 
12:48 AM Officer Soto was dispatched to a vehicle theft reported near Sycamore St & George Ave. Three males, ages 20, 18, and 16 were arrested for vehicle theft. The two adults were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:05 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a collision reported near Thornton Ave & Marshlands Road. A 23-year-old male was arrested for driving while intoxicated and a 29-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:40 AM Officer Lor investigated a theft reported near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. A 53-year-old male was cited for shoplifting.
 
9:51 AM Officer Lor investigated a catalytic converter theft reported near Edgewater Dr & Darvon St.
 
4:45 PM Officer Lomeli served a search warrant near Newark Blvd & Ruschin Dr, resulting in the arrest of a 36-year-old male. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
