Wilmington Police have arrested a wanted man following an assault investigation.
 
On August 2 at approximately 10:04 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of 7^th and West Streets in reference to an assault that had occurred. Officers made contact with the victim, who had suffered minor injuries, and located the suspect in a vehicle. As officers approached the vehicle to make contact with the suspect – 33-year-old Kyreese Cook – he drove away, causing minor injury to a police officer. Cook’s vehicle was located and stopped on I-95 in the area of Naamans Road, and Cook was taken into custody without further incident.
 
Cook, who was wanted on multiple unrelated matters, has been charged with the following offenses:

• Assault (Second Degree)
• Assault (Third Degree)
• Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
• Reckless Driving
