Police Seek Help Identifying Shoplifting Suspects

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the male suspects pictured below, who shoplifted perfume from a store specializing in women’s apparel on July 28, 2025.

The suspects entered Tutti Fruit Boutique at approximately 3:35 p.m. in the 200 block of Ferry Street. After taking time to browse, they asked an employee to show them several fragrances. On surveillance video, Suspect #1 paid for an item but concealed the stolen merchandise, valued at $396, in a backpack. He and the second suspect left the store without paying.

Suspect #1 is described as a Black male in his late 30s with a stocky build. He wore a black T-shirt with orange letters that spelled “Brute,” and he also wore black shorts with a metallic silver web stamp and black shoes.

Suspect #2 is described as a Hispanic male in his late 30s with a slender build.  He wore a black T-shirt, gray shorts, a black hat, black glasses, and metallic Jordan sneakers.

Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
