Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured female suspect in connection with an aggravated assault stabbing that occurred on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
A woman was stabbed by the suspect between the hours of 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. during a physical altercation that occurred between her and the suspect inside a business at Court Street near Washington Street. The suspect brandished a silver knife during the fight, stabbed the victim in the hand, and used a small black pipe that she retrieved from a nearby garbage can to strike the victim. Bystanders broke up the fight, and the victim traveled to University Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as having a light-brown complexion, 5’7” tall, and weighing 130 pounds. She is known to use the name “Shakira”.
