Wilmington Police make arrests in connection with Tuesday shooting incident, earlier burglary incident: 
Wilmington Police have made arrests in connection with a shooting incident, and an earlier burglary incident, that took place on Tuesday.
On August 5 at approximately 9:55 a.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bayard Avenue in reference to a shooting that had occurred. Police located a 35-year-old male gunshot victim, who suffered a minor injury and was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Wham of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Wham determined that the shooting incident was related to a burglary that had occurred earlier in the day in the 3200 block of West 2nd Street.
Police identified 69-year-old Lamotte Cephas as a suspect in the shooting incident, and took him into custody without incident a short time later. He has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (Second Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
Police also identified the victim of the shooting, 35-year-old Tyre Hampton of Newark, as a suspect in the burglary incident that had occurred earlier in the morning. He was taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of narcotics, and has been charged with the following offenses:
- Burglary (Second Degree)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 2 Quantity
- Theft Under $1,500
