| At the request of public safety officials, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has enacted temporary flight restrictions (TFR, aka - No Fly Zone) for special security reasons over parts of the City of Sheboygan. The TFR encompasses a 2-nautical mile radius from the Sheboygan Harbor. The TFR is limited to Unmanned Aircraft Systems - drones - flying between ground level and 1000 feet above ground level. Only drones that have obtained a waiver from the FAA are allowed to operate in the TFR. The TFR is in effect daily between the hours of 9:00a.m. and 5:30p.m from Friday, August 8, 2025, to Sunday, August 10, 2025. Please see the link below for further details along with attached photo of the TFR boundaries. The TFR was requested to clear the airspace during the P1 Mercury Racing Midwest Challenge. In order for vessels to race, a rescue helicopter needs to be airborne over the racecourse. In years past, private drones have delayed the races and posed a risk to flight crews, race personnel, and the public. Drone operators that fail to comply with the TFR may be subject to seizure of their drone and referral to federal authorities.
