INCIDENT: Gang Related Attempted Murder
LOCATION: 15000 block of Athol Street, Fontana
SUSPECT 1: Jayson Moran 26-year-old resident of Fontana
SUSPECT 2: Justin Meza 25-year-old resident of Fontana
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On July 13, 2025, at about 12:45 a.m., the victim was attacked by rival gang members while walking in the 15000 block of Athol Street, in unincorporated Fontana. During the assault, the victim was stabbed numerous times and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Detectives from the Fontana Sheriff's Station assumed the investigation and learned the victim was specifically targeted due to being a member of a rival gang. Fontana Sheriff's Station detectives, with the assistance of gang investigators with the Fontana Police Department, positively identified the suspects and additional witnesses who were present during the stabbing.
On Thursday, August 7, 2025, investigators with the Fontana Sheriff's Station, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Gangs/Narcotics Division served several search warrants in the cities of Fontana and Colton.
During the service of the search warrants, detectives located and arrested Jayson Moran and Justin Meza for attempted murder. Investigators also seized three firearms, ammunition, several high-capacity magazines, a stolen motorcycle and gang paraphernalia. Moran and Meza were booked into a San Bernardino County jail for attempted murder and participation in a criminal street gang. They are being held on $1,000,000 bail.
