Wilmington Police arrest woman in connection to July 5 shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested a woman in connection to a July 5 shooting incident following an investigation.
On July 5, at approximately 12:23 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 1100 block of Pleasant Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Police located a 24-year-old female gunshot victim, who arrived to the hospital in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Merced identified 23-year-old Jada James as a suspect and obtained warrants for her arrest. On August 7, police executed a search warrant in the 2600 block of North Monroe Street, and took James into custody without incident.
James has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (Second Degree)
- Aggravated Menacing
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
- Discharging a Firearm on a City Street
