INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Highway and Prescott Avenue, Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): Carmen Yolanda Barker, 37-year-old resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at approximately 10:43 p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station were dispatched to the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Prescott Avenue in Yucca Valley for a traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
Deputies arrived and located a 37-year-old female, later identified as Carmen Yolanda Barker, from San Bernardino, unresponsive in the roadway. Barker succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Fire Department personnel.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative throughout the investigation. Preliminary investigations revealed the traffic collision does not appear to be criminal in nature. The investigation is ongoing.
