El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from July 27th to August 2nd

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from July 27th  to August 2nd.   
 
July 27th
 Warrant Arrest/ Resisting Arrest- Central Ave/ Pierce St:
At 9:47 PM, an officer recognized a subject who had an active warrant. As officers approached the subject, she ran away from them. Officers caught up with the subject and attempted to take her into custody and she actively resisted. After the subject was taken into custody, she was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 28th
Warrant and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – BART Path & Manila Ave
At 12:39 PM, an officer contacted a subject and arrested the subject for a warrant out of San Francsico.  The subject was found to have drug paraphernalia on his person.  The subject was booked at ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Grand Theft – 6700 block of Waldo Ave
At 2:23 PM the victim reported that their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle.

Residential Burglary – 1300 block of Arlington Blvd
At 5:14 PM the victims’ tools were stolen from a residence that was under construction.

Driving Under the Influence / Child Endangerment – Kearney St / Wall Ave.
At 12:56 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for drunk driving.  Two young children were also in the vehicle.  The driver was booked at ECPD and later released on a citation.  The children were released to a relative.
 
July 29th
Stolen Vehicle – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 3:17 PM the victim reports their parked vehicle was stolen sometime last night.

Driving Under the Influence – Central Ave / San Pablo Ave.
At 1:09 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for drunk driving.  The driver was booked at ECPD and later released on a citation.
 
July 30th
Vandalism – 7400 block of Terrace Dr.
At 6:38 AM, the victim reports that during an argument her ex-boyfriend damaged her property and fled the residence.     

Arson – 500 block of Oak St.
At 8:23 AM the suspect set a pile of debris on fire in the carport and in front of the residence. 
   
Stolen Vehicle Report – 5600 block of El Dorado Ave.
At 11:09 AM, the victim reported his motorcycle was stolen last night.  The motorcycle was located, unoccupied, by a Richmond Police Officer in their city.

Shoplifting – Auto Zone 10650 San Pablo Ave.
At 11:38 AM, the suspect stole a battery charger and fled the business.

Brandishing a Weapon –  Wildwood Pl.
At 1:11 PM the Contra Costa County A3 Crisis Response team attempted to place a subject on a mental health evaluation hold.  The subject became irate and brandished a knife at them.  Officers responded and detained the subject.  The subject was transported by ambulance for further psychiatric treatment.    

Warrant Arrest – 11755 San Pablo Ave (El Cerrito Honda).
At 12:56 AM, officers arrested a subject for an outstanding warrant and transported them to county jail.
 
July 31st
Warrant Arrest – Fairmount Ave at the Bart Path
At 10:39 AM, an officer arrested the subject on a warrant out of San Mateo.  The subject was booked at ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Theft – 6800 block of Stockton Ave.
At 1:21 PM the victim reports that the catalytic converter from their vehicle was stolen. 
 
Theft – 1700 block of Liberty Ave.
At 8:49 PM, the victim reports property from their vehicle was stolen.

Stolen Vehicle Report – 600 block of Kearney Street.
At 1:28 AM, the victim reported their vehicle was stolen.

August 1st
Warrant Arrest / Suspended License – San Pablo Ave / Moeser Ln:
At 11:38 AM, during a traffic stop an officer arrested a suspect on 2 warrants.  Her license was also suspended.  The driver was cited for the driver license charge, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility on the warrants.

Warrant Arrest / Possess Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave / Ohio Ave:
At 12:58 PM, during a pedestrian stop an officer arrested a suspect on a warrant.  During a search incident to arrest, a controlled substance was discovered on the suspect’s person.  The suspect was issued a citation for the warrant and the drug charge.
 
August 2nd
Grand Theft – 5400 Block of Barrett Ave:
At 8:58 AM, an officer reports theft of copper wire. 

Warrant Arrest – 6500 Block of Donal Ave.
At 6:52 PM, an officer contacted a subject and arrested the subject for a warrant out of Contra Costa County. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens)
At 8:43 PM the victim reported that an unidentified suspect entered the business, selected merchandise, and attempted to leave without paying. When confronted, the suspect removed a stun gun from their bag and threatened to stun the victim, while leaving with the unpaid merchandise. 

Vandalism – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS)
At 9:18 PM, the victim reports that a suspect punched the window of the front door to the business, shattering the window. Following the incident, an officer located a subject matching the description of the suspect. The subject admitted to punching the window and shattering it. The subject was arrested and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
