Water Main Break Update - Water Distribution In Progress

For Immediate Release
August 10, 2025

A Message from the Haledon Office of Emergency Management (OEM)

Haledon, NJ - In light of the significant water main break involving a 30-inch pipe near Hinchcliffe Stadium in the City of Paterson on Friday, August 8, 2025, as reported by the Passaic Valley Water Commission, we want to express our genuine concern for all our residents, businesses, and everyone affected by this unforeseen emergency. This is a substantial water main break within the Passaic Valley Water Commission System, which services the City of Paterson. Unfortunately, repair efforts have become complicated, and this situation has also affected surrounding communities. Nevertheless, the Passaic Valley Water Commission reports that utility workers are actively engaged in resolving the situation as quickly and safely as possible.

For those with water, the Manchester Utilities Authority, which services the Borough of Haledon, has issued a Boil Water Advisory for residents and businesses throughout the borough, which remains in effect until further notice. Those with water are urged to conserve their supplies.

We encourage our Haledon community to opt in to our Nixle Emergency Alert System to receive important advisories and alerts by texting our Zip Code, 07508, to 888777, or by visiting nixle.com. You may also follow us on Facebook (@haledonpolice and @haledonborough) and Instagram (@haledonpolice and @haledonborough) for updates and information. Our team remains in communication with the Passaic Valley Water Commission, the Manchester Utilities Authority, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the Passaic County Fire Mutual Aid Coordinator, and the Passaic County Office of Emergency Management.

Especially during unforeseen emergencies like this, it is important for our community to come together and support one another. Again, we urge everyone with water to conserve it and follow the guidance provided by the Haledon Office of Emergency Management as the situation progresses. Our local first responders—including the Haledon Police Department and the Haledon Fire Department, in addition to the Haledon Department of Public Works—have stepped up to assist the community during these trying times. Our Haledon first responders have also distributed over 200 cases of bottled water to residents who are seniors, handicapped, or legitimately ill.

The Haledon Municipal Complex Senior Center remains open as a Temporary Shelter, where water will be available for any Haledon resident utilizing the service. Residents seeking temporary shelter can check in at the Main Desk at Haledon Police Headquarters.
