Water Main Break Update from Haledon OEM

A Message from the Haledon Office of Emergency Management (OEM)

Monday, August 11, 2025

As of this writing, more residents are gradually reporting that they have begun receiving limited water pressure again, at least enough to shower and flush toilets. Unfortunately, many of us still do not have running water in our homes as utility workers continue working around the clock to fix the problem at the water main break site near Hinchcliffe Stadium in the City of Paterson. For those with water, the Passaic Valley Water Commission, which services the City of Paterson and the Borough of Prospect Park, along with the Manchester Utilities Authority, which services the Borough of Haledon and the Borough of North Haledon, has issued a Boil Water Advisory, which remains in effect until further notice. Those with water are urged to conserve their supplies. The Manchester Utilities Authority is asking residents to keep all irrigation systems OFF and limit water usage until further notice.

Please be advised that the Passaic County Department of Health has directed all retail food establishments affected by this water loss to close due to sanitation and public health concerns until water service is fully restored and proper sanitation measures are taken by each establishment to reopen.

Our team remains in constant communication with the Passaic Valley Water Commission, the Manchester Utilities Authority, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the Passaic County Fire Mutual Aid Coordinator, the Passaic County Office of Emergency Management, and the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management. We have also maintained communication with officials and neighbors from the City of Paterson, the Borough of Prospect Park, and the Borough of North Haledon.

The Haledon Municipal Complex Senior Center remains open as a Temporary Shelter, where water will be available for any resident utilizing the service. Residents seeking temporary shelter can check in at the Main Desk at the Haledon Police Department.
