Wilmington Police have arrested an 18-year-old on gun charges following a foot pursuit.
 
On August 12 at approximately 12:38 a.m., police on patrol in the area of 6^th and North Van Buren Streets attempted to stop a subject illegally operating an electric scooter. The subject – Antwain Canty, 18 – abandoned the scooter and fled on foot, at one point removing a firearm from his waistband. Additional responding officers took the suspect into custody without further incident in the 200 block of North Harrison Street, and police recovered a loaded .45-caliber handgun with a laser attachment.
 
Canty has been charged with the following offenses:

• Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
• Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
• Resisting Arrest
